Taylor

Taylor began working with Longevity in their twenties while recovering from a brain injury alongside a spinal fusion. At the start, one of the main challenges was reshaping how Taylor approached training, particularly around frequency, exercise selection, and the value of whole-body movements rather than isolated or overly repetitive exercises.

Taylor’s primary goal was to lose weight while maintaining muscle mass, alongside rebuilding confidence in training following significant injury and surgery. Ensuring exercises were both effective and appropriate for their recovery stage was a key focus from the outset.

Training took place in the gym, where sessions focused on developing safe and efficient technique, selecting appropriate loads, and using mobility work to improve range of movement. Each session was structured to include cardiovascular warm-ups, targeted stretching, and progressive strength exercises, all tailored to Taylor’s individual needs and recovery considerations. Education played an important role, helping Taylor better understand how the body responds to training and how to move with control and confidence.

Over the past four months, Taylor’s confidence in training has continued to grow. Improvements in strength and mobility have supported more consistent and enjoyable workouts, with greater trust in their body and movement ability. Alongside physical progress, the supportive and engaging nature of the sessions helped Taylor feel comfortable asking questions and staying motivated.

When Taylor relocated to a different city and joined a new gym, the programme was adapted to suit the available equipment, ensuring continuity and progress without disruption. This flexible approach allowed Taylor to continue training confidently and safely, despite changes in environment, while maintaining momentum toward their goals.

“I was looking for a new high-quality personal trainer and a friend found Longevity and recommended it to me. They found me an amazing clinical exercise physiologist around my area.

Andy Haigh is an amazing clinical exercise physiologist, we talked about what my plans were, what issues and implications I might have and he created a custom plan that included cardio warm up, stretches and exercises. The plan is amazing and his insight has made me realise a lot more about the body and how to perform at the best of my abilities. Andy has also helped me in the gym by showing me the new exercises in the plan, helping me correct my form where it was wrong and causing issues which has helped me enjoy the workouts more. Finally Andy and me have had a laugh and a good few jokes whilst talking and working out which has made the experience a lot more enjoyable, relatable and I can ask him any question and he happily shares his knowledge.”
