Daniel
Daniel, aged 37, was referred to Longevity Health and Fitness to support his cardiovascular health and build confidence with physical activity. He has learning disabilities alongside high blood pressure, raised cholesterol, and very low baseline activity levels. At the start, Daniel had limited experience with structured exercise and low confidence, and his family were keen for a safe, supportive approach that would encourage long-term engagement rather than short-term change.
Daniel’s goals were to improve his aerobic fitness, establish a regular exercise routine, support the management of his blood pressure and cholesterol, and feel more confident being physically active. We worked together through regular one-to-one home visit exercise sessions with a personal trainer. Sessions were carefully adapted to Daniel’s needs, abilities and confidence levels, with a strong focus on creating a positive and encouraging environment. Aerobic exercise formed the foundation of his programme, with resistance and other exercise types introduced gradually as his confidence grew.
To support consistency between sessions, a simple and clear weekly exercise programme was provided, helping Daniel build familiarity and routine. Over the initial 12 weeks, improvements were seen in his aerobic fitness, willingness to engage in exercise, and overall confidence with movement. Family members also reported that Daniel was enjoying sessions and becoming more open to being active.
Following this initial programme, Daniel has continued with weekly exercise sessions and has now been engaging consistently for over five months. Sessions have remained flexible, adapting to his learning needs and day-to-day confidence, with pacing and exercise selection adjusted as needed to ensure safety and ongoing motivation. This individualised approach has allowed Daniel to build healthier habits at a pace that feels achievable, while supporting meaningful improvements in his physical health and confidence.
“My brother has high blood pressure and raised cholesterol as he has learning disabilities and is pretty inactive. Finding the right support for him felt really important to us as a family.
Longevity Health & Fitness arranged regular home visit sessions with a personal trainer who took the time to understand my brother’s needs and confidence. The focus has been on improving his fitness, with cardio and resistance training, helping support his blood pressure management.
He’s also been given a simple weekly programme to follow between sessions, which has helped him stay consistent. We’ve already seen improvements in his fitness, confidence, and willingness to be active.”
