Peter
Peter, aged 89, came to Longevity Health and Fitness wanting to maintain his independence and continue enjoying the activities that matter most to him, particularly playing golf. Like many people in later life, he had noticed a gradual decline in his fitness, strength, and mobility, and wanted to prevent further loss while exploring whether it was still possible to improve his physical capacity at his age.
From the outset, sessions were delivered as one-to-one senior personal training, carefully tailored to Peter’s changing needs and how he was feeling on the day. The focus was on building functional strength, improving balance and mobility, and maintaining coordination, all with direct relevance to both everyday movement and the physical demands of golf. Exercises were varied to keep sessions engaging, while always remaining safe, appropriate, and confidence-building.
As training progressed, Peter began to notice clear improvements in his overall fitness. His strength and mobility increased, his balance improved, and he felt more confident moving day to day. These changes allowed him to continue playing golf more comfortably and with greater confidence, reinforcing the value of consistent, well-structured exercise in later life.
Sessions were adapted whenever energy levels or mobility fluctuated, ensuring progress could continue without pushing beyond what felt safe or manageable. Training has continued twice weekly, with improvements maintained and built upon over time through regular, supportive sessions.
Peter often reflects that while he initially hoped to prevent further decline, he didn’t expect to feel fitter at this stage of life. The experience has shown him that meaningful improvements in strength and fitness are still possible well into later years, with the right guidance, consistency, and personalised support.
“Since working with Longevity, I have found my fitness levels to improve tremendously. Victoria provides a variety of different exercises for me based on my changing needs. I have been very impressed with her attitude to work and total commitment to improving my overall health.“
