Vicky came to Longevity Health and Fitness while recovering from an L5/S1 lower back injury. At the time, she was eager to return to exercise but felt anxious about doing the wrong thing and potentially re-injuring herself. Although she missed being active, her confidence in movement was low and she needed reassurance that any exercise she did would be safe, appropriate, and well supervised.
Following her initial enquiry, Vicky completed a detailed consultation where her injury history, symptoms and concerns were carefully explored. Based on this, she was matched with one of our clinical practitioners best suited to support her recovery. From the outset, the focus was on rebuilding trust in movement, rather than rushing progress.
Sessions were approached gradually and thoughtfully, with close attention paid to posture, movement patterns and technique. Strength and stability were rebuilt progressively, with small corrections made along the way and clear explanations given so Vicky understood not just what she was doing, but why it mattered. This education played a key role in helping her regain confidence and feel safe exercising again.
Throughout the process, sessions were adapted to how Vicky was feeling, balancing reassurance with gentle challenge. Over time, she became stronger, more confident in her movement, and comfortable returning to regular exercise without fear of aggravating her back.
