Bhanu

Bhanu, in her 50s, came to Longevity Health and Fitness following a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. At the time, she was experiencing challenges with balance, coordination, and hand and finger dexterity, which were beginning to affect her confidence with everyday tasks both inside and outside the home. Activities that required fine motor control, such as preparing food, felt increasingly difficult, and mobility tasks required more thought and effort.

Bhanu’s goals focused on improving her balance, coordination and single-leg strength, as well as rebuilding confidence with movement and daily activities. Regaining control and confidence in tasks that required dexterity and stability was a key priority for both her independence and quality of life.

We worked together through a combination of joint sessions and a tailored exercise programme that Bhanu could complete independently between sessions. Using resistance bands, weights and functional exercises, sessions were designed to target balance, proprioception, coordination and whole-body strength. Exercises were regularly adapted based on how Bhanu was feeling, ensuring they remained challenging yet achievable as her symptoms fluctuated.

Over time, Bhanu made steady and meaningful progress. Her single-leg balance improved, hand and finger dexterity increased, and she developed greater strength across both her upper and lower limbs. Perhaps most importantly, her confidence with mobility grew significantly, allowing her to move more comfortably and safely indoors and outdoors, and approach everyday tasks with greater assurance.

Now, over a year into working together, Bhanu continues to build on these improvements. When setbacks arose or symptoms changed, exercises were adjusted to ensure she could continue progressing safely without frustration.

Bhanu’s husband, Navin, shared how valuable this support has been, noting that her practitioner quickly built a strong rapport, carefully assessed her movement, and created an exercise programme that helped restore strength, movement and confidence. Bhanu’s journey highlights how consistent, individualised clinical exercise can make a meaningful difference in managing Parkinson’s and supporting independence over the long term.

“Engaged a physio for my wife who has parkinson’s for home visits. Charlotte has an engaging personality and bonded with my wife quickly.

She assessed her weaknesses and movement and devised an appropriate set of exercises to follow. This has helped my wife tremendously to restore her movement and strength, and she is a lot more confident as an individual. Definitely would recommend to others.
