Cliodhna

Cliodhna, aged 64, came to Longevity Health and Fitness following a diagnosis of lumbar spinal stenosis and long-standing lower back pain. At the time, persistent discomfort was affecting her day-to-day movement, and she felt unsure about what exercise was safe to do. Like many people with spinal conditions, she was concerned that the wrong movement could worsen her symptoms or trigger painful flare-ups, which had led to a loss of confidence in staying active.

Her goal was to reduce pain, improve mobility, and rebuild trust in her body so she could move and exercise without fear. Following a consultant recommendation, Cliodhna completed a comprehensive initial assessment to help us understand how her symptoms were presenting and how they impacted her daily life.

Sessions were delivered on a one-to-one basis, with clinical exercise carefully tailored to how she felt on the day. We focused on safe movement patterns, gradual strength development and functional mobility, ensuring progression was steady and appropriate. Exercises were adapted whenever needed, allowing Cliodhna to continue making progress without aggravating her symptoms.

Within the first few weeks, she began to notice reductions in pain and improvements in mobility. As her strength increased, everyday movements felt more comfortable and manageable, and her confidence with exercise steadily returned. Over the following months, consistent sessions supported ongoing improvements, helping her feel more capable and in control of her movement again.

On days when symptoms were more pronounced, sessions were adjusted to reduce intensity or volume, ensuring exercise remained beneficial without triggering flare-ups. This flexible, responsive approach allowed Cliodhna to stay active safely and continue building strength, confidence and resilience over time.
